SOME FACTS ABOUT OUR ACTORS


BRIAN TREE (Shylock in MERCHANT, The Fool in LEAR, Friar Lawrence in ROMEO, Claudius and Polonius in HAMLET and Theseus in DREAM) has performed in fourteen seasons at the Stratford Festival, where he has appeared in over forty-five productions of Shakespeare's plays.

DAVID FOX (Lear in KING LEAR) won the Dora Award for his starring role in the Governor General's Award-winning play THE DRAWER BOY, was a regular in television’s ROAD TO AVONLEA and has acted in too many plays to count.

DANIEL KASH (title role in MACBETH, Oberon in DREAM, Gratiano in MERCHANT) plays Simon Peter in THE GOSPEL OF JOHN, starred in Atom Egoyan's GROSS MISCONDUCT, appears with Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt in TUXEDO, with Judy Davis in ME AND MY SHADOWS, with Sigourney Weaver in ALIENS, and has appeared in dozens of plays including Stanley Kowalski in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.

MICHAEL McMANUS (Edmund in LEAR) plays KAI in the sci-fi T.V. series LEXX and starred in Atom Egoyan's SPEAKING PARTS.

SOO GARAY (Lady Macbeth in MACBETH, Regan in LEAR, Hippolyta in DREAM) played Dr. Davison in PSI FACTOR, guest starred on PUPPETS WHO KILL, THE HUNGER and MUTANT X, starred in HBO's SHOT THROUGH THE HEART and appears in the feature films FOOLPROOF and NOTHING, directed by Vincent Natali.

CLARE COULTER (First Witch in MACBETH) has won the Dora Award, starred in television’s WORST WITCH, and has appeared in dozens of movies, television series and plays in Canada and England, including 25 plays at Tor’s Tarragon Theatre.

GARY REINEKE (Gloucester in LEAR) won the Dora Award for his stage performance in Sam Sheppard's BURIED CHILD and has appeared in dozens of movies and television shows.

GEOFF BOWES (Narrator/Kent in LEAR) has won the Dora, acted at Stratford, Shaw and every major theatre in Canada, starred in films and television.

WANETA STORMS (Cordelia in LEAR) stars in CTV’s THE ELEVENTH HOUR and won the Dora Award for her performance in the play COYOTE UGLY.

ANN-MARIE MACDONALD (Portia in MERCHANT) has won two Gemini Awards for her acting. As a writer, she won the Commonwealth Prize for Best First Novel, the CAA Literary Award for Fiction, and the Dartmouth Award for Fiction for her first novel FALL ON YOUR KNEES.

Dora-award winning TANJA JACOBS (Gertrude, Laertes & Gravedigger in HAMLET) has performed to acclaim in dozens of plays across Canada.

KAREN DWYER (Ophelia & Horario in HAMLET) starred in the feature film BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE.

RICHARD MCMILLAN (Antonio in MERCHANT) played Scar onstage in THE LION KING, and starred in MIKADO on Broadway.

KATE ELLIS (Juliet in ROMEO & JULIET) guest-starred on NYPD BLUE, was a regular on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and starred in the NBC series GO FISH.

 

 

 


Key Creative Personnel

CAMERON PORTEOUS (Production Design, Costume Design: KING LEAR, MACBETH) was Head of Design at Ontario's Shaw Theatre Festival for 17 years. He has also designed sets and costumes for theatre and opera across Canada, and was Production Designer for all of DevineEntertainment's Artist, Inventor and Composer films, including BEETHOVEN LIVES UPSTAIRS, for which he won an Emmy Award.

TERESA PRZYBYLSKI (Production Design, Costume Design: DREAM, HAMLET) is an architect and designer for opera, theatre, dance and film, including productions at Stratford, Shaw, Canadian Opera Company, National Arts Centre, Théâtre Français de Toronto, and Native Earth. She is the recipient of three Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

DAVID J. PATRICK (Director of Photography: LEAR, MACBETH, DREAM) has been a Copywriter and Technical Producer in radio, an Actor, Stage Manager and Lighting Director in theatre, and a Key Grip and Gaffer for commercials, corporate and rock video and feature film. He has directed and edited and is Director of Photography on dramas and documentaries using everything from super8 to 35mm and lipstick-cam to HighDef. David designs and builds production hardware systems and teaches lighting and cinematography.

RUSTY McCARTHY (Composer: ROMEO, DREAM, MACBETH) has played guitar with countless bands including a long collaboration with Mary-Margaret O'Hara. He is a versatile musician who composes in many styles, producing music for film, T.V., dance and for recording artists at his own studio, The RecRoom.

ERIC WEINTHAL (series creator) has written dozens of television shows, directed a few and been a story editor. The Toronto International Film Festival hired him to be Screenwriting Mentor to six screenwriters across the country. Eric’s first feature film as a writer/director played at film festivals, theatrically and on television. He was commissioned to write a book and a television series. Eric sings, writes music and acts, and is writing a play and a musical.

ADA CRANIFORD (series creator) holds a P.H.D. in Shakespeare and Renaissance Studies and has taught university and high school. She has just written a book about Mordecai Richler entitled “The Importance of Being Mordecai”.
