SOME FACTS ABOUT OUR ACTORS

MAURICE DEAN WINT (title role in OTHELLO) played the title role in the world premiere of the play THE REAL McCOY. He starred in the feature films RUDE, IT ALL HAPPENS INCREDIBLE FAST, CUBE and CURTIS’ CHARM. As a series regular on the television series BLUE MURDER, Maurice was nominated for a Gemini Award. On stage Maurice was nominated for a Dora Award for his performance as Aaron in Shakesp’s TITUS ANDRONICUS.

HOLLY LEWIS (Desdemona in OTHELLO) starred in the feature film THESE GIRLS, and appeared on television in THE NEWSROOM and PUPPETS WHO KILL.

BRIAN TREE (Brabantio in OTHELLO, Shylock in MERCHANT, The Fool in LEAR, Friar Lawrence in ROMEO, Claudius and Polonius in HAMLET and Theseus in DREAM) has performed in fourteen seasons at the Stratford Festival, where he has appeared in over forty-five productions of Shakespeare's plays.

DANIEL KASH (title role in MACBETH, Roderigo/Narrator in OTHELLO, Oberon in DREAM, Gratiano in MERCHANT) plays Simon Peter in THE GOSPEL OF JOHN, starred in Atom Egoyan's GROSS MISCONDUCT, appears with Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt in TUXEDO, with Judy Davis in ME AND MY SHADOWS, with Sigourney Weaver in ALIENS, and has appeared in dozens of plays including Stanley Kowalski in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.

JANE SPIDELL (Emilia in OTHELLO) created the title role in Michael Healey's play RUNE ARLIDGE, appeared in the feature film MEN WITH BROOMS, on television in SLINGS & ARROWS and she has played many Shakespearean roles at the Stratford Festival Theatre.


Key Creative Personnel

CAMERON PORTEOUS (Production Design, Costume Design: OTHELLO, KING LEAR, MACBETH) was Head of Design at Ontario's Shaw Theatre Festival for 17 years. He has also designed sets and costumes for theatre and opera across Canada, and was Production Designer for all of DevineEntertainment's Artist, Inventor and Composer films, including BEETHOVEN LIVES UPSTAIRS, for which he won an Emmy Award.

DAVID J. PATRICK (Director of Photography: OTHELLO, LEAR, MACBETH, DREAM) has been a Copywriter and Technical Producer in radio, an Actor, Stage Manager and Lighting Director in theatre, and a Key Grip and Gaffer for commercials, corporate and rock video and feature film. He has directed and edited and is Director of Photography on dramas and documentaries using everything from super8 to 35mm and lipstick-cam to HighDef. David designs and builds production hardware systems and teaches lighting and cinematography.

RUSTY McCARTHY (Composer: OTHELLO, ROMEO, DREAM, MACBETH) has played guitar with countless bands including a long collaboration with Mary-Margaret O'Hara. He is a versatile musician who composes in many styles, producing music for film, T.V., dance and for recording artists at his own studio, The RecRoom.

ERIC WEINTHAL (series creator) has written dozens of television shows, directed a few and been a story editor. The Toronto International Film Festival hired him to be Screenwriting Mentor to six screenwriters across the country. Eric’s first feature film as a writer/director played at film festivals, theatrically and on television. He was commissioned to write a book and a television series. Eric sings, writes music and acts, and has written two plays.

ADA CRANIFORD (series creator) holds a Ph.D in Renaissance Studies and wrote her doctoral thesis on Biblical allusions in Shakespeare's comedies. She has taught English and Drama at universities and high schools. She has just published a book entitled “Mordecai Richler: A Life in Ten Novels”.
